The project is focused on the employment of a painting style characterised by a political commitment, figurative narratives and radical graphics that have been rejected by New York’s mainstream culture. The exhibition is structured around three thematic sections, all of them devoted to two generations of artists formed in Chicago between the 1950s and 60s.

For over 120 years the Venice Biennale has been one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world.VIVA ARTE VIVA is this year’s theme and matter of the art fair. It’s subdivided into nine chapters, beginning with two introductory areas in the Central Pavilion, followed by another seven across the Arsenale.
Chiharu Shiota is an artist to throw an eye on at this very moment. She was born in Osaka (Japan) and has moved to Berlin at the age of 5. Since then she has been living and working in the German capital. She studied at the Berlin University of Fine Arts and the Hamburg University of Fine Arts and worked at Rebecca Horn’s studio and with Marina Abramovic.
Mr. Mauroner tells: “As a gallery owner you really have to be courageous and show something that nobody else is showing. You have to be brave enough to display different and even provocative artworks, if you want to be successful.”
